LOS ANGELES COUNTY-- Join Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich to officially kick off the holiday season in Los Angeles County with the annual lighting of the County Christmas Tree next Monday at 5 p.m. – continuing a special tradition begun by late Supervisor Kenneth Hahn in honor of the County’s children.

Supervisor Antonovich will be joined by talented young performers from the Castaic High School Choir in Castaic, to help flip the switch to light the 50-foot tree.

The tradition of lighting a Christmas tree in the United States began over a hundred years ago.  In 1923, President Calvin Coolidge started the national Christmas Tree lighting ceremony on the White House lawn.
